The Red Rods invite a child to experience dimensions from 1 cm³ to 10 cm³, the consequence of disorder, and helps to improve coordination, concentration, independence, and problem solving skills through observation. Ten solid long red wooden rods that are constant in height and width (2.5cm) while graduated in length from 10cm to 1 meter.

Long Red Rods introduce children to differences in length through a carefully graded sequence of ten rods. Each rod has a consistent height and width of 2.5 cm while increasing in length from 10 cm to 1 meter, supporting visual discrimination, coordination, concentration, independence, and problem-solving through observation.

Educational Purpose:
Helps children visually discriminate differences in length, understand graded dimensional relationships, recognize order and sequence, and develop coordinated movement.

Activity:
Children arrange the rods from shortest to longest, compare their lengths, and observe the consequences when rods are placed out of sequence.

This is a really simple material. Nevertheless it gets a LOT of use in our classroom. It's attractive and durable and has lasted through hundreds of students from year to year. Don't undersetimate the value of this material because of its simplicity!

Beautiful and Sturdy!

I have converted a small room, in our home, into a classroom for my 3 and 5 year olds. These rods are very sturdy! I was concerned that they might warp but, after 6 months they are still perfect!! We are so happy with this product!!!

These have worked well in our homeschool classroom. Paint has not chipped. For the price, I think they are well worth it.
